100100 Basic Medicine

Basic Medicine was granted with the conferment right of master’s degree for first-level discipline in 2021. The program has 1 national teaching team, 1 provincial teaching team and 9 municipal and above innovation teams. There are 76 members, including 22 members with senior professional title, 22 with associate senior professional title, 17 doctoral supervisors and 27 master supervisors, among which 53 members have doctoral degrees, 42% of them have overseas experience, and more than 20 of them are high-level talents at or above the provincial/municipal levels. With provincial key laboratory, biosafety secondary laboratory, SPF animal experiment platform and large instrument sharing platform of Ningbo University School of Medicine, it provides a guarantee for teaching faculty, postgraduate research and talent training. Adhering to the school motto of “knowledgeable and humane”, this discipline always adheres to the education concept of student-oriented and moral education first, and has cultivated basic medical talents with innovative ability and thinking. In the past five years, the program has trained more than 430 medical postgraduates with master’s degree.

The program owns obvious characteristics in the disciplines such as human physiology and pathophysiology, pathology, immunology, regenerative medicine and medical molecular biology, especially the pathophysiology mechanism of central nervous system diseases and drug intervention, discussion on the mechanism of liver inflammatory disease and metabolic disease, discussion on pathogenesis of virus infection and development of antiviral drugs, reconstruction of artificial esophagus and regeneration of bone (cartilage) and molecular genetic relationship between non-coding RNA and tumors. In past five years, it has developed 26 national projects (2 key projects) and 47 provincial projects, with a total investment fund of 25,206,900 yuan; it has won the 4 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards as well as 58 invention patents; full-time teaching faculty under the program have published 241 high-level academic papers.

Professor Wen Jinsheng, head of the program, currently serves as the the standing member of the Branch of Microbiology and Immunology of Zhejiang Medical Association. He has long been engaged in the basic research of host immune response mechanism against mosquito-borne viruses, precise virus vaccine and antiviral drugs. As the project leader, he has undertaken 4 national natural science foundation projects, 4 provincial projects and 3 municipal projects. He has published more than 50 research papers on the international well-known journals such as Nature Microbiology, Nature Communications, Cell Host Microbe, Journal of Experimental Medicine, Cell Reports and Current Opinion in Immunology as the first author or corresponding author. Moreover, he has participated in the compilation of 2 textbooks. In addition, he has won the title of “151” talents of Zhejiang Province, “East Zhejiang Scholar” of Ningbo University, “3315” Talents of Ningbo City, “551” Talents of Wenzhou City and “Top Young Talents”.

100200 Clinical Medicine

Clinical Medicine is a provincial key major, advantageous major, provincial key discipline in “12^th Five-year Plan” and first-class discipline in “13^th Five-year Plan”. It was granted the conferment rights of master’s degree for surgery, internal medicine and clinical medicine respectively in 2003, 2006 and 2011. In 2014, the master’s degree program of clinical medicine was approved. In 2012, it ranked the 40th in the discipline evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2019, it successfully passed the special evaluation of medical professional degree program, ranking the fourth in the professional group. In 2015, it entered the top 1% of ESI, and in 2018, it was granted the the conferment rights of doctoral degree for clinical medicine first-class discipline. The Clinical Medicine owns 457 master supervisors, 47 doctoral supervisors and 10 people enjoying the special allowance of the State Council, with 45 talents selected for various provincial and municipal talent projects at all levels, and 51% of the teaching faculty have overseas education or working experience. The program owns three directly affiliated hospitals and eight non-directly affiliated hospitals. Three directly affiliated hospitals have won “A” in the performance test of national tertiary public hospitals announced by the National Health Commission for two consecutive years. Moreover, it has established three provincial and regional special disease centers, three national standardized training bases, five provincial and municipal key disciplines, four Ningbo medical brand disciplines, and eight Ningbo key supported disciplines.

The program boasts obvious clinical advantages and distinctive scientific research characteristics. It has obvious characteristics in early screening and diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, diagnosis and treatment of otorhinolaryngology- head and neck diseases, and diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases. It has developed 11 national projects and 49 provincial and ministerial projects, with a total research fund of 29 million yuan. It has won 3 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, issued 19 invention patents, published 2918 papers (including 624 high-level papers), and published and compiled 48 works. Taking “foster virtue through education” as the fundamental task, the program has deepened the reform of talent training mechanism, made continuous efforts to cultivate high-level clinical talents, and established innovative practice bases to improve the innovation and practice ability of clinical postgraduates and has made unremitting efforts in postgraduate training and achieved fruitful results.

Professor Lu Caide, head of the program, current member of Chinese Branch of International Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Association, vice president of Surgical Technology Innovation and Promotion Branch of National Health Industry Enterprise Management Association, member of Pancreatic Cancer Committee of Chinese anti-Cancer Association and Liver Cancer Professional Committee of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, standing member of Zhejiang Provincial Branch of Surgery, Provincial Branch of Organ Transplantation and Provincial Association of Surgeons and chairman of Surgical Branch of Ningbo Medical Association, has been long engaged in clinical diagnosis, treatment and basic research of hepatobiliary and pancreatic tumors, and performed more than 300 hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgical operations annually. Since 2003, he has performed more than 220 surgeries for liver transplantation, greatly improving the level of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and the overall medical level in Ningbo. As the leader of Ningbo medical and health brand discipline “Diagnosis and Treatment Center for Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases” and Ningbo Science and Technology Innovation Team, he has published more than 90 papers in domestic and foreign first-class magazines, among which 14 papers have been included in high-level journals as the first author or corresponding author. In addition, he has edited and published 1 textbook. Enjoying the special government allowance of the State Council, own the title of National Advanced Individual in Medical and health System, the Chinese Physician Award, the first batch of excellent medical and health discipline leaders in Ningbo, the Ningbo Famous Health Doctor Award, and the provincial and municipal two-level model worker, and has won two Medical and Health Science and Technology Innovation Awards of Zhejiang Province and one Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Award.

1004 Public Health and Preventive Medicine

Public Health and Preventive Medicine was granted with the conferment right of master’s degree for first-level discipline in 2010. The program carries out joint enrollment with Ningbo Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Zhejiang Center for Disease Control and Prevention and other units, and has maintained long-term close contact and cooperation with famous universities and research institutions at home and abroad in scientific research and talent training. With strong faculty and reasonable academic team structure, the program boasts distinctive discipline advantages in epidemiology and health statistics, occupational health and environmental hygiene, nutrition and food hygiene and health toxicology. In the past five years, more than 300 academic papers have been published in domestic and foreign magazines, including more than 200 high-level academic papers. More than 80 national and provincial scientific research projects have been approved, with a total scientific research fund of more than 30 million yuan. Moreover, more than 20 science and technology awards at all levels have been gained. The cooperative training units namely Ningbo Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Zhejiang Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention are professional institutions for disease control and research in Ningbo and Zhejiang Province, which are municipal and provincial public health emergencies disposal and guidance centers and practice bases of field epidemiology of National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Her research interests include the epidemiology of chronic diseases. She has presided over and participated in 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 8 provincial projects, and more than 10 scientific research projects at department level. She has won 7 scientific and technological progress awards at all levels, including 1 second prize and 1 third prize of provincial scientific and technological progress award. She has authored or compiled 5 books and published more than 50 papers in recent years, with more than 30 papers included in high-level journals.

Three subjects have won the third prize of scientific research achievements of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education and the third prize of Zhejiang Provincial Medical and Health Progress Award. Ye has participated in the compilation of 2 oncology monographs and has been engaged in clinical teaching and scientific research for 17 years. Ye is good at standardized and individualized chemotherapy and biological therapy of various solid tumors, and has rich experience in palliative treatment of advanced tumors and the treatment of toxic and side effects of tumor chemotherapy.

The program owns strong teaching resources, reasonable academic echelon and higher education level and has undertaken more than 100 scientific research projects, including five national natural science fund projects, five provincial and ministerial cooperation projects, more than ten province natural science foundation projects and more than 80 provincial and municipal subjects, with a total research fund of more than 11 million yuan, including the longitudinal fund of more than 6 million yuan; the program has won 9 scientific research achievement awards at provincial and ministry levels, 6 scientific research achievement awards at municipal and department levels. In the past five years, it has published more than 100 papers in high-level journals and more than 10 monographs (translations) in the past three years.

At present, cardiovascular internal medicine is the “provincial and municipal key discipline” for diagnosis and treatment training base of National Health and Family Planning Commission of the P.R.C., national certified center of chest pain, national drug and food administration certified drug clinical trial institution, regional special disease center of Zhejiang province (east of Zhejiang), and Ningbo government and Zhejiang government; Ningbo clinical characteristic key specialty, “Ningbo key medical discipline”; while hematology is a “key supported discipline of Zhejiang Province” and respiratory medicine, gastroenterology and other disciplines are currently “key disciplines of Ningbo City”. The discipline has a strong team of supervisors and owns four municipal key laboratories.

Chen Xiaomin, head of the program, chief physician, expert enjoying special allowance of the State Council, member of FACC (member of American College of Cardiology), standing member of Cardiovascular Disease Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association, vice president of Zhejiang Cardiovascular Association, standing member of Electrophysiology and Pacing Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association, vice chairman of Cardiovascular Disease Branch of Ningbo Medical Association, vice chairman of Electrophysiology Branch of Ningbo Medical Association, was awarded “Ningbo Expert Making Outstanding Contributions” in 2010 and awarded “Ningbo Famous Doctor in Health System” in 2018 and was awarded the excellent discipline leader of Ningbo for several times. At present, the scientific research fund reaches more than 5 million. In recent years, under the leadership of Director Chen Xiaomin and other experts, the discipline has achieved excellent performance on molecular genetic mechanisms of major cardiovascular disease, radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation and atrial fibrillation pathogenic gene screening study. In past two years, antiplatelet pharmacogenomics, aspirin and clopidogrel resistance mechanism and the detecting method maintained the domestic leading position. The discipline is the first special disease center construction unit in East Zhejiang, Ningbo Child Health and Disease Clinical Medical Research Center, key construction discipline of Ningbo, pediatric kidney disease and pediatric rheumatic immune disease construction unit of Ningbo clinical characteristic specialty and has presided over one national key special sub-project, three provincial and ministerial projects and more than municipal and department scientific research projects in the past five years, with total research fund of more than 3 million yuan. It has obtained the nine Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Awards and Zhejiang Medical and Health Science and Technology Awards in total.

Qiu Haiyan, head of the program, chief physician, current vice chairman of Pediatric Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association, Vice President of Pediatric Branch of Zhejiang Medical Doctors Association, chairman of Pediatric Branch of Ningbo Medical Association, chief expert of Ningbo Science and Technology Innovation Service Team, member of the editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine, has presided over two projects at provincial and ministerial level, two projects at municipal and department level and participated in many projects at the provincial and municipal level, with the research fund of more than 1 million yuan. In recent years, it has made outstanding achievements in the prevention and treatment of congenital heart disease, the pathogenesis of Kawasaki disease and the promotion of appropriate pediatric technology.

In the past five years, it has undertaken more than 50 scientific research projects, including 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 7 provincial and ministerial cooperation projects, 2 municipal innovation teams, more than 20 municipal natural science foundation projects, and more than 20 provincial and municipal projects, with a total research fund of more than 26 million yuan. It has won 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Award (ranked second), 1 first prize of Zhejiang Science and Technology Award, and more than 10 scientific research achievement awards at the municipal and department level. In the past five years, it has published more than 250 papers, with more than 60 articles included in high-level journals and lots of papers published in Chinese series magazines and first-level core journals, and 13 monographs published. It has own one Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Award. It will host the national and provincial continuing medical education projects every year. The discipline team is composed of academic backbones from various affiliated hospitals and a strong team of supervisors and research and teaching teams have been established.

Xu Suling, head of the program, chief physician at second-level post, professor, doctoral supervisor, vice chairman of Zhejiang Public Health Association of Chinese Medical Association, vice president of Dermatology Branch of Zhejiang Medical Doctors Association, chairman of Ningbo Specialized Branch of Dermatology, mainly focuses on the clinical and basic research of allergic diseases and skin tumors, clinical application and basic research of dermoscopy and hospital management. In the past three years, Xu has presided over the major projects namely the major cooperation projects in artificial intelligence allergic disease and skin cancer, provincial natural foundation and municipal public welfare project and participated in several provincial and municipal subjects, with the research fund of more than 2 million yuan. Xu has won the second prize of Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Award, edited one book and co-edited two medical monographs and English textbook of dermatology and venerology and published more than 30 papers.

The program owns strong teaching resources, reasonable academic echelon and higher education level and has been awarded national civilization post, provincial youth civilization title and “Ningbo key discipline”. At present, it has undertaken five scientific research projects at provincial and ministerial level and eight projects at municipal and departmental level; published more than 80 papers in past five years, including 18 papers included and cited in high-level journals and 29 papers published in series of journals of Chinese Medical Association, published 9 monograhs (translations) in past three years and own 7 patents.

Cai Ting, head of the program, chief physician, member of Regenerative Medicine Branch of China Medicinal Biotechnology Association, standing member of Emergency Medicine Society of Zhejiang Medical Association, member of Branch of Infectious Diseases of Zhejiang Medical Association, chairman of Medical Microbiology and Immunology Branch of Ningbo Medical Association, vice chairman of Emergency Medicine Society of Ningbo Medical Association, vice chairman of Branch of Infectious Diseases of Zhejiang Medical Association, chairman of Microecology Society of Ningbo Preventive Medicine Association, has been listed as the second-level cultivated talents in Ningbo “4321 Talent Project” and was awarded the title of provincial youth post expert, Top 10 Outstanding Youths of Ningbo Municipal Government, outstanding discipline leader of Ningbo, expert making outstanding contribution in Ningbo and excellent science and technology worker of Ningbo. The program owns strong teaching resources and reasonable academic echelon in the clinical, scientific research and teaching fields and has undertaken nearly 90 scientific and research projects at present, including one national natural science foundation project, seven provincial natural science foundation projects, more than 80 municipal and departmental projects, with total research fund of more than 10 million yuan; it has obtained one provincial and ministerial scientific research achievement award and more than ten scientific and research achievement awards at municipal and bureau level; in past five years, it has published more than 200 papers. It is supported by “general surgery”, “cardiothoracic surgery”, “skull base surgery” and other Ningbo municipal key disciplines, and becomes the first key specialty with clinical characteristics in cardiac surgery center, Ningbo organ transplant research center as well as Ningbo health brand discipline and develops the clinical medical research center for Ningbo digestive system tumors.

Li Hong, head of the program, chief physician, doctoral supervisor and master supervisor of Ningbo University School of Medicine, chairman of General Surgery Branch of Ningbo medical Association, vice president of Provincial Anti-cancer Association, vice chairman of Minimally Invasive Surgery Branch of Provincial Medical Association, vice president of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Surgery and Pancreatic Disease Branch of Provincial Medical Doctors Association and director of laparoscopc surgeon training base of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, has been engaged in the clinical work of general surgery for more than 30 years and is the authoritative expert of general surgical technique in Ningbo, and is especially good at laparoscopic surgery technology and maintains the domestic leading level. In terms of scientific research and academic research, Li has obtained four provincial and municipal technology progress awards, eight provincial and municipal project funds, published more than 30 papers and obtained three patents. Li has won the honorary titles of National May 1^st Labor Medal, Municipal Expert Making Outstanding Contribution and Ningbo Famous Health Doctor.

The program owns strong teaching resources and reasonable academic echelon in the clinical, scientific research and teaching fields and has undertaken more than 20 provincial and municipal scientific research projects in past two years, including one provincial natural science foundation project, one municipal social development plan project and eight Zhejiang provincial medical and health science research fund projects, with the research fund being 5.19 million; it has own seven municipal and departmental scientific research achievement awards; published more than 90 papers in past five years, including 30 papers included in high-level journals and several papers published in Chinese series journals and other first-class magazines, edited or co-edited five monographs. The perinatal medicine in the discipline refers to the discipline co-supported by Zhejiang provincial government and Ningbo municipal government, gynecology is the key construction discipline of medical health system of Ningbo and obstetrics and gynecology is the first-batch leading medical discipline at the county level in Zhejiang Province.

Zhang Yisheng, head of the program, chief physician, standing director of China Healthy Birth Science Association, standing member of Reproductive Health Committee of Zhejiang Preventive Medicine Association, vice chairman of Ningbo Perinatal Society and vice chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology Branch of Ningbo Association of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, specializes in the management, diagnosis and treatment of high-risk pregnant women, diagnosis and treatment of reproductive endocrine diseases, infertility and minimally invasive surgery. Zhang has undertaken four municipal subjects in Ningbo and one social development project and published five high-level papers.

The program owns a number of highly educated and high-level young and middle-aged discipline backbones with rich clinical experience and has gradually formed a young, united and inspired echelon, with its comprehensive strength of medicine, teaching and research gradually entered the advanced level in the province. The academic backbones are professors (chief physicians), including four doctors and two doctoral candidates. Gu Haiying, head of the program, professor, doctoral supervisor, executive member of Chinese Society for Microbiology, chairman of Clinical Microbiology Committee of Chinese Society for Microbiology, expert enjoying special allowance of the State Council and leading talent of “3635” Plan of Changsha People’s Government. Main academic contributions: Gu firstly discovered three pathogenic bacteria; he discovered a new method for bacterial flagella staining, successfully developed “bacterial flagellated valley stain kit”, verified that pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bifastigote, which overturns the view that pseudomonas aeruginosa is a monoflagellate for nearly one century; created a method to rapidly detect helicobacter pylori biofilm formation and characteristics; initially created the kits for rapid isolation, culture, identification, drug sensitivity and strain preservation of helicobacter pylori. The Pharmacy major focuses on the research, development, production, and efficacy analysis of drugs. It is based on relevant theoretical disciplines such as chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering, clinical medicine, etc., and it's a master's degree granting point. The main fields include marine drug resources and R&D, drug synthesis and formulation R&D, and drug action mechanisms and clinical applications.

With the support of the national 111 intelligence base and Li Dasan's Marine Biomedical Fund, the School of Food and Pharmacy, Medical College, and New Drug Research Institute of Ningbo University have introduced a group of high-level talents from home and abroad in recent years.
