[Clinical Medicine]
Training objectives: to cultivate the clinical medicine applied talents who can adapt to the need of medicine and healthcare service, who have good professional quality, preliminary clinical working ability, lifelong learning ability, certain innovation ability and potential for further study and development, who can engage in safe and effective medical practice under the guidance and supervision of healthcare institutions at all levels and superior physicians.
Main courses: systematic anatomy, medical cell biology, histology and embryology, physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, medical genetics, pharmacology, pathology, pathophysiology, preventive medicine, medical immunology, medical microbiology, epidemiology, medical statistics, diagnostics, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, neurology, lemology, pathergasiology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, dermatology and venerology, oral medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, fundamentals of general medicine, etc.

Features of the major: (1) interdisciplinary, medical and engineering integrated development: the platform resource sharing and major integrated development can be achieved under the support of first-level doctoral program of clinical medicine and second-level doctoral program of biomedical information processing and provincial first-class discipline; (2) small-class teaching reform is enhanced, with remarkable teaching results; small-class teaching is implemented to improve the professional ethics and humanistic spirit of students to care for patients and respect the life and stimulate the independent learning and innovation ability of medical students; (3) with rich teaching resources, the collaboration between medicine and education can be deepened: the titles of national and provincial teaching teams and outstanding teachers are given; a total of 15 national and provincial courses such as high-quality online open courses are established; three directly affiliated Grade 3 Class A hospitals are established and two national clinical skill training centers are established. (4) the major has obvious advantages and is under rapid development: it has been awarded the first national excellent doctor education training plan and passed the professional certification of the Ministry of Education and has been awarded the national first-class major, ranking in top 50 in China.
Employment and further education: in recent years, the pass rate of medical practitioner qualification examination for graduates of this major ranks top 10% in China. The employment rate exceeds 97% every year and the admission rate of undergraduate in postgraduate entrance examination in 2020 reaches 55% and ranks the first place in the University for many years. Students have obtained excellent results in various national university student discipline competitions.
[Preventive Medicine]
Training objectives: to cultivate the senior public health professionals with solid medical basic theory, basic knowledge and basic skills, who can master the professional basic knowledge and professional basic skill of preventive medicine, who have good professional spirit and professional ethics, who have strong ability to engage in disease prevention and control, health supervision and monitoring, health care, health promotion, health management and health service of the community and who have certain scientific research and innovation capabilities.
Main courses: human anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, medical genetics, medical immunology, pathology, medical ethics, diagnostics, internal medicine, infectious diseases, epidemiology, health statistics, environmental hygiene, labor health and occupational medicine, health chemistry, nutrition and food hygiene, children and teenagers’ health, maternal and child health, social medicine, health education, health service management, health microbiology, health toxicology, health economics and health law.

Features of the major: the major has strong comprehensive strength and owns “12th Five-year Plan” key construction discipline of Zhejiang and key discipline of Ningbo, innovation team and advantageous major of Ningbo, “13thFive-year Plan” provincial undergraduate off-campus practice education base of Zhejiang Province and is approved to be the first-class major in Zhejiang Province in 2020. At present, the major owns a first-level discipline master’s degree program of public health and preventive medicine and owns four secondary majors namely epidemiology and health statistics, labor hygiene and environmental hygiene, nutrition and food hygiene and hospital administration as well as the master’s degree program for public health major. Since establishment of the major, close cooperation has been organized with different industries and departments such as the provincial, municipal and district (county) disease prevention and control center, and 14 undergraduate teaching bases and 3 postgraduate training bases are established, with rich teaching resources, outstanding teaching performance and several national and provincial awards received.
Employment and further education: in recent years, the employment rate is maintained to be 96% and above. In 2020, the postgraduate admission rate for the undergraduates reached 55%. Our graduates mainly work in relevant departments and scientific research institutions such as municipal and district disease prevention and control centers, health supervision offices, entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureaus, health service centers in the communities and prevention and healthcare department of the hospitals. In recent years, students have been approved to participate in nearly 50 research projects and have published more than 100 academic papers (2/3 being SCI papers).
