Personal Introduction:
Dr. Shi Yi, PhD and Professor, is a recipient of the National Excellent Young Scientist Fund. He currently serves at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Medical College of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences/International Vaccine Innovation Institute (under preparation), and as the Executive Director of the CAS-TWAS Center of Excellence for Infectious Diseases Research and Exchange. He is also the Executive Editor of the hLife journal.
Holding numerous academic positions, Dr. Shi is a member of the Council of China Association of Science and Technology for Young Scientists, Secretary-General of the Bio-Pharmaceutical Science Committee, Deputy Director of the Youth Committee of the Chinese Biophysical Society, Director and Standing Committee Member of the Youth Working Committee of the Chinese Immunology Society, Deputy Director of the Virus Professional Committee of the Chinese Microbiology Society, and Executive Director of the Beijing Immunology Society. He has previously served as the Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Pathogenic Microbiology and Immunology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a member of the Institute Council of the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chairman of the 5th Council of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Shi's research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of pathogenic infection regulation, the interaction and recognition mechanisms of immune cell receptors and ligands, as well as drug development. Through the integration of structural biology, cell biology, and other research methods, he has conducted deep research on the infection processes of important viral infectious diseases such as influenza, COVID-19, Ebola, monkeypox, Zika, and Lassa, achieving a series of significant advancements. He has published over 100 high-level academic papers in international journals, including 30+ papers as the first or corresponding author in top journals such as Cell, Nature, Science, Nature Reviews Microbiology, and Nature Microbiology.
Dr. Shi's research has been supported by various grants, including the National Major Scientific and Technological Special Project for Infectious Diseases, the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Excellent Young Scientist Fund, the CAS Pioneer B Program, and the CAS Young Scientist Program.
His achievements have been recognized with numerous honors and awards, including the "Lu Jiaxi Young Talent Award" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the "Innovators Under 35" China list by MIT Technology Review, the First Prize for Science and Technology of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, the Qiu Shi Outstanding Scientific Achievement Collective Award, and the title of "Highly Cited Scientist" in 2022 and 2023.
