Lecture Title: A Data-Driven New Paradigm in Clinical Research Time: Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 9:30-11:00 AM Location: Room A202, Wang Changlai Building, Health Science Center Speaker: Dr. Gong Mengchun Bio: Dr. Gong Mengchun, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer of Shenzhou Medical, graduated from the eight-year clinical medicine program at Peking Union Medical College (Tsinghua University Medical School) and completed residency training at Peking Union Hospital. During this time, he was involved in pediatric nephrology, health economics, medical education research, and visited the University of California, San Francisco. Since early 2015, he has been working in the field of medical informatics, participating in the establishment of China's National Rare Disease Registry System (NRDRS) and serving as Executive Director until 2019. He is currently a partner at Shenzhou Medical Technology Co., Ltd., serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer. Additionally, he is an adjunct researcher at the Southern Medical University Health Management Research Institute. His primary research areas include medical informatics, phenomics, health technology assessment, rare disease-related health policy research, and medical education. He has undertaken several national and provincial research projects, serving as the chief expert for the Ministry of Science and Technology's "Active Health and Aging Response" special project. He is also involved in significant research tasks for various major projects such as precision medicine, pathogenics, maternal and child health, digital diagnostic equipment, and common and prevalent disease programs. Shenzhou Medical has advanced technological advantages in the fields of medical big data and artificial intelligence, along with extensive experience in constructing national-level specialized big data platforms. In 2022, in collaboration with Peking Union Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Xijing Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University, and Union Hospital affiliated with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shenzhou Medical obtained eight national key research and development projects, including the establishment and clinical transformation application of a "Rare Disease Multi-Modal Auxiliary Diagnosis and Treatment Platform," "Establishment of a New System for Early Diagnosis of Multiple Cancers and its Nationwide Promotion," and "Research and Demonstration Application of a New Triggered Early Warning System for Newly Emerging Infectious Diseases."
