Personal Profile: Feng Dexin

Feng Dexin is a researcher and doctoral supervisor. He serves as the secretary of the Party branch for the Special Function Materials Research Laboratory at the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and was the leader of the Chinese Academy of Sciences delegation to MIT in 2016. He has established a green catalysis research group with 27 members, owns a small-scale pilot platform covering 460 square meters, and co-built a more than 2000 square meters pilot transformation platform with the research laboratory. Feng earned his PhD from Nankai University under the supervision of Academician Chen Ruyu, focusing on the design and synthesis of organophosphorus anticancer drugs; from 2007 to 2009, he worked at China Animal Industry and Trade Group Corporation's Chemical Drug Synthesis Research Institute, leading a team of 16 researchers to complete over 200 syntheses of pharmaceutical intermediates. Since 2009, he has been working at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, primarily engaged in the synthesis of active nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds and water-phase green catalysis technology. Feng has presided over more than twenty national, Chinese Academy of Sciences, provincial key projects, and horizontal topics, with funding exceeding twenty million yuan. His achievements include 20 authorized patents and 43 published articles. He has received several honors such as Outstanding Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Innovation Promotion Association, Qingdao High-level Talent C category, and won third place in the National Finals of the 2021 Green Industry Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, along with six other awards including the Qingdao Youth Science and Technology Award.
