On the afternoon of September 14th, the 2023 freshmen orientation and first lecture were held at Ningbo University's Lin Xinqin Hall. Party and leaders from the Ningbo University Health Science Center, representatives from the Medical Education Department, alumni, freshman homeroom teachers, all tutors, and 721 new students from the class of 2023 attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Wei, the vice Secretary of the Party Committee of Ningbo University Health Science Center.
At the orientation, Wang Qianyong, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Ningbo University Health Science Center, delivered the "first lecture" titled "Embarking on a New Journey in Pursuit of Medical Dreams, Shouldering Responsibility to Build Character", encouraging the freshmen to "dare to dream, pursue dreams, and fulfill dreams". He hopes that all new students will thrive in this inclusive, persistent, practical, innovative, and timely environment of Ningbo University, and grow into trusted guardians of people's health for the party and the people.
Xu Guozhang, Deputy Director of the Ningbo University Health Science Center, introduced the development history of the medical department of Ningbo University, warmly welcomed all new students, and emphasized that "great responsibility lies ahead, the future is limitless". He hopes that the students will integrate their life goals into the sacred cause of serving the health of the nation and the people, and practice the ambition to serve the country. Professor Ye Meng, in charge of special work for medical education, introduced the undergraduate education and setup of the clinical medical college, wishing new students happy studying and healthy living. Finally, the Medical Education Department and Student Services & Development Department each provided detailed explanations and arrangements for graduate student training management and service work, and conducted ideological education for incoming freshmen.
Fu Yao from the 2023 Innovation Class for Top Talents, Le Jingyang, a direct doctoral student, and Chen Hang, an alumnus of the class of 2023, each represented different stages of medical study: admission, during school, and graduation. They shared their personal experiences and specific practices to help all new students affirm their ideals and clarify their direction.
"Knowing is the beginning of action, and action is the accomplishment of knowledge." We wish all new students to uphold the motto "Learn Broadly and Be Righteous", integrate knowledge with action, and become practitioners of medical missions that are most true, good, and beautiful.
