On December 2nd, the 2023 Local Comprehensive University Medical Education Forum was held at the Ningbo Fubang Grand Hotel. The forum was hosted by Ningbo University Health Science Center and co-organized by the First Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University and the Development and Research Center for Medical Education at Ningbo University. More than 80 experts and scholars from Peking University, Shenzhen University, Three Gorges University, and many other universities in Zhejiang Province gathered to discuss how to better promote medical education. Fan Lin, the Deputy Director of the Science, Education, and Cooperation Exchange Office of the Ningbo Municipal Health Commission, attended the forum.

    The forum focused on discussions in the areas of innovative medical education, medical discipline construction, and student cultivation. Xie A'na, the Executive Deputy Director of the Institute for Medical Education Research at Ningbo University Health Science Center (formerly Peking University Health Science Center), delivered a keynote report titled "Quality Assurance System for Medical Education from a Data Perspective". Xu Xingzhi, the Executive Director of the Medical Department at Shenzhen University, gave a report titled "The Path and Thoughts on Running a Good Medical College in Local Comprehensive Universities".

    Experts from several universities in Zhejiang Province have published unique insights into promoting medical education based on the actual situation of their respective schools. Liu Yu, the executive director of Ningbo University Health Science Center, gave a special report titled "Cultivating Medical Talents with Both Feet on the Ground". She emphasized that medical education should be closely connected to reality, following the objective laws of cultivating innovative abilities, and guiding and ensuring the cultivation of medical talents' innovative abilities through regulations, teaching management, financial support, and other methods.Xu Ying, the deputy dean of the Medical College of Jiaxing University, shared the concept of "cultivating top-notch medical clinical talents for the grassroots" and deeply ingrained the spirit of the Red Boat into the guidance of innovative development. Yao Yunliang, the dean of the Medical College of Huzhou Normal University, introduced the school's specialty construction in nursing. Chen Guang, the deputy dean of the Medical College of Taizhou University, talked about the school's practical experience in building a clinical medicine major.Xing Haiyan, the vice president of Shaoxing University of Arts and Sciences, elaborated in detail on "the reform and practice of the clinical medical talent training model under medical-education collaboration". Zhang Dayong, the deputy dean of Zhejiang University City College, shared the construction and practice of the curriculum ideological system based on "Three Faiths in Life", aimed at enhancing medical students' enthusiasm for exploring the mystery of life, guarding life health, pursuing the value of life, and cultivating new era medical talents who are morally and intellectually competent, have a firm belief in practicing medicine, and strive for people's health as a lifelong faith.Li Caifu, the deputy dean of Lishui University Medical College, shared the exploration and practice of the school in training applied medical and health personnel for the grassroots.

    The forum also focused on topics such as hospital and university cooperation, and collaborative medical education for student cultivation. Mao Haijiao, the deputy director of the First Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University, discussed "Hospital-School Education under High-Quality Hospital Development", while Jiao Qibin, the assistant dean of the affiliated hospital of Hangzhou Normal University Health Science Center, explored "Practical Collaboration in Medical Education Talent Cultivation". Their aim is to innovate medical education and improve its quality. Yang Jin, the deputy director of the education office of Shao Yifu Hospital, conducted in-depth research on "Exploration and Innovation of Undergraduate Teaching and Training Systems under the New Medical Background".

   The forum provides an interactive exchange and learning platform for local comprehensive university health science centers, aiming to promote the rapid development of medical education in local comprehensive universities and enhance their teaching quality and social service capabilities. All participating units expressed that the results of the forum discussion will have a profound impact on educational practice. They will take this opportunity to strive to improve the quality of medical education in local comprehensive universities.
