To enhance the fire escape skills of teachers and students and their ability to handle emergencies, and to provide a realistic experience of escaping from a fire, the Health Science Center organized a fire escape emergency evacuation drill on the afternoon of March 21. The event was attended by more than 50 representatives, including Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Zhang Wei, along with guidance from the school's security department staff.
Before the start of the fire emergency drill, the Health Science Center's safety officer arranged the evacuation routes, methods, and precise locations for all personnel guiding in the event of a fire, emphasizing precautions and preventive measures during the process.
The drill commenced promptly at 14:00, simulating a fire caused by a student's mishandling of equipment in the laboratory, leading to an electrical short circuit. The fire quickly spread upwards. Upon hearing the alarm, the Health Science Center immediately activated its emergency plan, organizing firefighting efforts while evacuation guides swiftly reached their designated posts. They directed all laboratory and administrative building staff and students to evacuate through the fire exits on each floor, ensuring that everyone orderly reached the open area outside the Zhen Building without any incidents such as stampedes. In the open area outside the Zhen Building, security department staff gave a detailed introduction on the correct use of fire escape techniques and fire extinguishers, and organized all participants to practice firefighting in groups.
Zhang Wei summarized the event, noting the significant role of the fire emergency drill in laboratory safety operations, fire accident prevention, and response to fires. She emphasized the need for all teachers and students to enhance their awareness of emergency preparedness, to prioritize safety in every action, and to work together to create a safe campus.
This fire evacuation drill strengthened the rapid response and composure of teachers and students in dangerous situations, promoted familiarity with disaster warning signals and emergency evacuation routes, and improved students' abilities to respond to emergencies and deal with fires.
