I. Program Background
Ningbo University has established a joint training program for clinical medicine PhD students with the University of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (UBFC). The program adopts a dual mentorship and dual-campus model to introduce high-quality medical education resources, aiming to cultivate high-level international clinical medical doctoral students.
The University of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (//www.univ-fcomte.fr/, //www.u-bourgogne.fr/) is a multi-disciplinary research university community that integrates seven higher education and research institutions in the Bourgogne Franche-Comté region of France. Since 2016, UBFC has been awarded the "Investments for the Future" national program and has become one of the members of the Initiative of Excellence (I-SITE) project. In 2019, UBFC was ranked 22nd among French universities.
As one of the oldest comprehensive national universities in France, UBFC has six doctoral schools, including the School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which has trained a large number of outstanding clinical medical talents in France.
II. Program Overview
Six-year integrated Master's and Doctoral Program
1. Number and Target of Enrollment
No more than four people, targeting academic master's degree students in clinical medicine who will enroll in the School of Medicine at Ningbo University in September 2023. The specific quota is subject to the announcement from the Graduate School.
Students will participate in the selection assessment organized by the School of Medicine, and those who pass the assessment will enter the program.
2. Planned Training Process
① 1st-2nd semesters: Study master's courses in clinical medicine at Ningbo University;
② 3rd-4th semesters: Study master's courses in innovative drug at UBFC;
③ 5th-6th semesters: Study doctoral courses at UBFC;
④ 7th-9th semesters: If French language proficiency reaches B2 level, students may choose to participate in specialist physician training (DFMS training) at an affiliated hospital of UBFC; if not or if students choose scientific research training, they will continue their doctoral research;
⑤ 10th-12th semesters: Conduct doctoral research at Ningbo University and complete the thesis defense.
3. Degrees or Certificates Obtained
① PhD in Clinical Medicine (academic type) from Ningbo University
② Master's Degree in Innovative Drug from UBFC
③ PhD in Biomedical Sciences from UBFC
④ French Specialist Training Certificate (optional; must pass B2 in French)
4. Tuition and Registration Fees
The following are only the standards for previous years; the specific standards shall be implemented according to the latest documents:
• For the Master's in Clinical Medicine at Ningbo University and Master's in Innovative Drug at UBFC:
8000 RMB/year * 2 years at Ningbo University and 380 euros registration fee * 1 year at UBFC
Registration fees are subject to the announcement by the French side.
• For Clinical Medicine PhD Students:
10000 RMB/year * 4 years at Ningbo University and 380 euros/year registration fee * 4 years at UBFC
5. Scholarships
• Second-year master's degree students:
One-year scholarship from UBFC (500-600 euros/month) and a one-time subsidy of 50,000 RMB from Ningbo University
• Clinical Medicine PhD Students:
2000 euros/month (tax included) from UBFC or 1350 euros/month (tax-free) from China Scholarship Council
Note: Eligible students may also apply for other scholarships from Ningbo University.
Four-Year Joint PhD Training Program
1. Number and Target of Enrollment
No more than four people, targeting academic doctoral students in clinical medicine who will enroll in the Medical School at Ningbo University in September 2023.
2. Planned Training Process
① 1st academic year: Study doctoral courses in clinical medicine at Ningbo University;
② 2nd-3rd academic years: Conduct doctoral research at UBFC;
③ 4th academic year: Conduct doctoral research at Ningbo University and complete the thesis defense.
3. Degrees or Certificates Obtained
1. PhD in Clinical Medicine (academic type) from Ningbo University
2. PhD in Biomedical Sciences from UBFC
4. Tuition and Registration Fees
The following are only the standards for previous years; the specific standards shall be implemented according to the latest documents:
380 euros/year * 4 years at UBFC and 10000 RMB/year * 4 years at Ningbo University
5. Scholarships
2000 euros/month (tax included) from UBFC or 1350 euros/month (tax-free) from China Scholarship Council
Note: Eligible students may also apply for other scholarships from Ningbo University.
III. Selection Method
1. Students should send the electronic version of the application materials listed in the attachment to [email protected].
2. An expert group will comprehensively review the student materials.
3. Students who pass the material review will participate in an interview.
4. Project candidates will be determined based on the results of the materials and interview.
