Pharmacy
The Pharmacy major focuses on the research, development, production, and efficacy analysis of drugs. It is based on relevant theoretical disciplines such as chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering, clinical medicine, etc., and it's a master's degree granting point. The main fields include marine drug resources and R&D, drug synthesis and formulation R&D, and drug action mechanisms and clinical applications.
With the support of the national 111 intelligence base and Li Dasan's Marine Biomedical Fund, the School of Food and Pharmacy, Medical College, and New Drug Research Institute of Ningbo University have introduced a group of high-level talents from home and abroad in recent years. The faculty of the pharmacy major includes: one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, one "Key Technology Talent" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, one Ningbo 3315 entrepreneurial team, one Pan-3315 innovative individual from Ningbo, ten senior professionals, and eleven associate senior professionals. Additionally, there are 18 flexible talents, including one Fellow of the Royal Society of the UK, one Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, one academician of the Korean Academy of Sciences, one Zhejiang East Scholar, two Bao Yugang Lecture Professors, and fifteen adjunct professors. Industry mentors come from leading companies and innovative enterprises in the biopharmaceutical industry, with rich engineering practice experience, most of whom have over 20 years of industry experience and have long-term cooperation with Ningbo University.
This major plans to focus on the construction of internship and training bases, forming a group of teaching bases that match the talent training goals and practical teaching content, and establishing long-term cooperative relationships with leading enterprises in the biopharmaceutical field in Ningbo and surrounding areas. It fully plays the role of the collaborative innovation platform for industry, academia, and research, enhances horizontal scientific research capabilities to serve the local economy, and innovates pharmaceutical processes to serve local pharmaceutical companies.
The Pharmacy major carries out basic and applied research in the characteristic directions such as marine innovative drug R&D, drug synthesis technology and new formulation development, drug action and clinical application. In the past five years, it has undertaken 21 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, 11 provincial-level scientific research projects, 13 city-level scientific research projects, and two horizontal projects developed in cooperation with enterprises. The scientific research fund exceeds 15 million yuan, more than 200 academic papers have been published, 164 of which are included in SCI, and 46 invention patents have been granted. This includes over 80 papers published in internationally important academic journals such as Chemical Engineering Journal, Organic Letters, European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, ACS Chemical Neuroscience, Marine Drugs, Algal Research, etc. The project "Discovery and Efficient Preparation Technology of Natural Drug Lead Compounds" won the second prize of Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Award in 2020 and the second prize of Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Award in 2019.
