I. General Information
As a teaching and research orientated university, Ningbo University is an institution jointly developed by the Chinese Ministry of Education, Zhejiang provincial government and the Ningbo municipal government. It was selected for the national‘Double First-Class’educational initiative, and was one of the first five key universities selected by Zhejiang Province. The university has 25 facilities, covering 11 disciplines including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and art. According to ESI (Essential Science Indicators) subject ranking, Engineering, Clinical Medicine, Chemistry, Material Science, Plant and Animal Sciences and Agricultural Science are 6 disciplines that go on the list of 1% world class institutions. It has 7 class-A subjects and 6 class-B subjects rated first-class provincially. At present, there are 9 first-class doctor conferrable spots and 3 post-doctor mobile units at the same time 31 first-class master conferrable spots, 25 master’s professional degree programs and 60 undergraduate enrollment majors. The university attaches great importance to the implementation of the internationalization strategy. Currently, Ningbo University has established cooperation with 100 universities in more than 70 countries, and more than 2,000 students from 104 countries are enrolled in the university.

3. Payment Methods: Transfer the application fee and tuition fee to the bank account designated by the university, and upload the scanned copy of the remittance letter to the application system.
IV. Eligibility
1. General requirements
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with proper moral conduct, in good health with no infectious disease or any physical or mental diseases that may affect the normal study, and be under the age of 40 (Age limit is flexible for healthy applicants with certain work experience and high academic ability). Applicants must be valid foreign passport holders and Master’s degree holders (Applicant who provide pre-graduation certificate or student status certificate at application MUST provide Master’s degree diploma prior to registration.)
2. Requirements on nationality
2.1 Applicant who has given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens shall provide the documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese nationality, according to the policy of Ministry of Education of the PRC.
2.2 If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents are both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents is a Chinese citizen, the review of applicant’s application will be implemented according to the No.210 [2008] Article issued by Exit-Entry Administration Office, Provincial Public Security Bureau, Zhejiang Province.
V. Documents for Application
Applicants must log in to the Online Application System for International Students of Ningbo University, fill in clearly and upload completely the original or notarized scanned copies of the following materials as required.
1. A photocopy of the passport.
2. Photo.
3. Highest degree certificates. Highest degree certificates. If applicants are university students, they shall provide an official pre-graduation certificate. The original or notarized copy of the academic qualification certificate must be submitted after admission (the degree certificate must be obtained no later than registration).
4. Academic transcripts during Master’s degree study, which must be original documents or notarized copies.
5. Language (Chinese or English) proficiency certificates.
Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must provide HSK certificate.
Applicants for English-taught programs must provide grade report of TOEFL or IELTS test, or other proof which can reflect the applicants’English proficiency. (Not required for English native speakers)
6. Personal statement, in Chinese or English, should include study and work experience, reasons for application and study proposal. No less than 1500 words.
7. Two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors, in Chinese or English. (Professors’signature, contact phone number and email address must be put on the letter.)
8. Applicant who has given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens shall provide the documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese nationality, according to the policy of Ministry of Education of the PRC.
9. If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents are both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents is a Chinese citizen, please provide
(1) documents certifying acquiring foreign citizenship at the time of birth;
(2) documents certifying parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent residence in foreign country before the birth of applicants.
VI. Selection Process, Admission and Notification
1. Students are enrolled on the basis of competitive selection according to their academic performance, language proficiency and performance in the interview. The university will determine the name list of preliminary admission in different batches according to the application received. Applicants can also log on the Online Application System to track the admission process.
2. Applicants who receive the Pre-Admission Notice should prepay the first year tuition fee and upload the remittance letter to the System. The pre-admission will be canceled if applicants fail to prepay the first year tuition fee within the stated time period.
3. The official Admission Notice, Visa Application Form (JW202 Form) and other relevant admission documents will be mailed to enrolled applicants once the prepaid tuition fee is confirmed to be received.
VII. Registration
1. Admitted applicants should register with the university strictly according to the time specified in the admission notice. The original graduation certificate, original HSK certificate, and original English proficiency certificate will be checked upon registration. Those who fail to provide the original copies will be disqualified for the enrollment.
2. Doctoral degree programs of Ningbo University usually start from late August or early September every year. For exact registration dates, please refer to the Admission Notice.
